Petty Patrol: Athletic Brand Mashups = No Go

Sure, the colors match & individually, the jacket and shoes are dope…but together, it’s a full on mess.

Nike. Adidas. Reebok. Puma. Converse. All great brands. All great brands that produce dope products, from shoes to clothes and everything in between. Puma Track Jacket with a pair of Puma Roma sneakers, sign me up. Nike Tech Fleece with fresh pair of Air Max, of course. But, Adidas track pants with a pair of Huarache's, I think not. I CAN. NOT. even begin to fathom throwing that together and walking out of the house. And to be honest, I don't even know where I picked up this athleisure snobbery, but I'm 100% here for it. And, personally, I feel it's a rule more people should adopt.

I get it. It SEEMS petty. But I cannot advocate for the mixing of athletic brands. It doesn't even look right, think about it. The three stripes paired with the Swoosh? For why? Those logos aren't meant to be coupled. You shouldn't just do it. See what I did there? Anyway, in case you feel like I'm just blowing some elitist fashion-y smoke, GQ agrees with me.

These brands design fresh looks to be compliment one another, not to be sloppily paired with the competition. So, do yourself a favor and don't mix and match the Reebok with Converse. Or Nike with Adidas, or Puma with, well you get it. Get yourself a proper outfit that highlights one singular brand.

Oh, and while we're at it, sweaters and sweatshirts aren't one in the same. But, that's a rant for another day. Now I'm off to hide my disgust from all the athleisure mis-matchers out there.
