So, um … what look were you going for?

You have to be brave to take fashion risks. And when I say fashion risk, I’m not talking about wearing white after Labor Day. There are so many daring looks that grace runway stages every year, yet many of those aren’t quite suitable for everyday life. However, sometimes you may feel the urge to take a chance on something less suited for the masses. And really, there is nothing wrong with that. In fact, I for one believe that you have to be confident in what YOU want to wear and sometimes that confidence is enough to pull off a rather unique look.

But sometimes, all the confidence in the world can’t save a fashion fail. Because sometimes, those avant-garde looks should be left on the runways from whence they came. And well, let’s face it, sometimes we are too involved in creating a unique fashion look that we fail to see that we should have left that experiment in the “lab”.

This is why it is important to have friends! Not just any friends though, friends that will save us from ourselves. Friends that will question your latest creation and will never let us leave the house looking like a Project Runway challenge gone horribly wrong. Because our very best friends have no problem telling us the harsh truth (because someone has to do it).

So, the next time your friend utters the phrase “so, what look were you going for?” take a step back, look in the mirror and realize they are only looking out for your best interest!
